 Nagoya isn't the most convenient of cities to travel to when it comes to day trips from Tokyo, but it was definitely worth the trip for us!! Nagoya isn't too far when taking the bullet train; it only takes about 2 hours from Tokyo Station. It will cost just a bit over 10,000 yen (about $100 USD) for a one-way trip which isn't too bad if you're a lucky tourist with a JR Pass. On the other hand, if you're a humble resident such as myself and can't get your hands on one of those babies, a cheaper option is an overnight bus! We left at about 10pm the night before, and arrived in Nagoya the next morning at 6:30. I find this mode of transportation to be super convenient and beneficial because you can truly make the most out of your day with a forced early start! Willer Express has plenty of buses that can take you almost anywhere in Japan for a cheaper price and I've used their services on multiple occasions. Ogura Toast Nagoya is pretty well known for all their signature foods and we could not wait to try all of them. Most coffee shops sell ogura toast and this was the first item on our list! Ogura toast consists of toasted, thick Japanese bread with sweet bean and butter to top it off. I'm not usually too sure about red bean, but this combination was a pleasant surprise! Nagoya Castle Nagoya Castle is absolutely stunning and only a 30 minute walk from Nagoya Station. While we were there, it was wonderful to walk around the grounds, try some Ogura Toast Kit Kats, take some scenic photos, and search for some special Nagoya souvenirs. The castle is just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. Guests have the ability to walk up to the top and explore a variety of historic artifacts regarding Nagoya. After looking at everything, one will find their way on the top floor with a stunning view! The observation floor overlooks the entire city and is quite the sight to see!   We got the chance to meet with a Samurai in front of the castle!  Photo opportunity with Nagoya's Dolphin Mascot  Our view as we were headed to Nabano No Sato  We made a stop at the Tea Lounge as we waited for the sun to go down! Nabano no sato winter illumination Nabano no Sato is a little trip away from the heart of Nagoya. We took a train from Nagoya Station to Nagashima Station and it took about 30 minutes. There are a variety of buses that can take you to the illumination from Nagashima Station; however, we decided to walk because it was the cheapest option and had some scenic views along the way.  A little photo opportunity that was right outside the tea lounge! Light Tunnels     This tunnel alternates between pink and green lights   Nagoya was absolutely incredible. Japan's cities have so many beautiful, and unique things to offer, and this trip surely did not disappoint. Nabano no Sato was definitely the highlight of my time in this area and I'm so blessed to have had the opportunity to see one of the biggest illuminations in Japan! For the most part, it seems that most cities in this country have specialized foods in their region, and we really enjoyed eating like the locals! The Ogura Toast, Hitsumabushi, and Misokatsu were definitely worth the try. Thank you Nagoya!
